Assessment in the New National Curriculum
Since the implementation of the New Curriculum the government has removed the national curriculum levels which have been used to report children’s attainment and progress. The government is encouraging schools to introduce their own approaches to assessment, but during the transition period (autumn 2014- summer 2015) we will continue to use the existing national curriculum levels and point scores and will be working in partnership with the Local Authority, neighbouring schools and Challenge Partnership to design a new assessment tool.
Our school statement needs to be read in conjunction with our Assessment, Marking and Feedback and Teaching and Learning policies. At Denbigh Primary School we will be guided by the approach, method, use and principles for assessment, published in the Report of the National Association of Head Teachers’ Commission on Assessment.
